a new word for me; the quality of having a ready insight into things; shrewdness. I think I like it.

Tall Garden Phlox = Phlox paniculata

White Rose of Sharon

The color transformation from bud to bloom is fascinating.

This hardy hibiscus is an easy-to-grow shrub. It is valued for its tight, upright form and large summer blossoms, adding color to the landscape when few other plants are in bloom. Flowers are trumpet-shaped and come in a variety of colors including white, pink, red, purple and violet.
The rose-of-sharon is suited to formal or informal plantings, groupings, shrub borders, hedges and screens and grows to a height of 8–12' and a spread of 6–10' at maturity.

Meadow Land

Butterflies were scarce in this meadow area
of the local state park.
But still a pleasant area to wander through.

Quiet Neighborhood

Recently while indulging my other hobby of family research,

I took a moment to cross the country road
and look down at this creek.
It was a calm and relaxing moment out of the heat.

Look, It's the Brooklyn Bridge

But wait. We're in Pennsylvania

Saxonburg to be exact.
A small western PA town founded by John Roebling.

Roebling Park is the location of the 1840 workshop of John A. Roebling,
where he experimented with his ideas for a wire rope.

Roebling successfully patented his new wire cable which found extensive use in suspension bridges.

The climax of his bridge-building career was, of course, the still standing Brooklyn Bridge across the East River between New York City (Manhattan) and Brooklyn.

A replica of the Brooklyn Bridge is on permanent display at the park.

I would have included a full photo of the workshop to the right;
but there was extensive landscaping work underway.

It's Polka Time

The Pennsylvania Polka
Play while viewing photos
to get a feel for my Pennsylvania

If I close my eyes I can still see my father-in-law's feet flying
He was one of the best when it came to 'polka'

Hope you enjoyed a glimpse of my Pennsylvania.

Blue Hosta

Simple Pleasure: Relaxing on a misty morning and watching a bumble bee
feast on the nectar of this large Blue Hosta.

The top layer of a blue hosta leaf is covered with a glaucous coating that provides a blue appearance to the leaf. They are generlly bluer when they first emerge.
