A Free Running Crowd

Wait up Guys

 Hey, are you following me?

UhOh, there's a crowd forming down at the road.

I can't make head or tails of what they are doing over there.

Let's just mind our own business

Looking Back at Christmas

In the Kitchen

Five Things I'm Thankful for

As a morning person, preparing a crockpot meal for evening
wins out over getting started in late afternoon
Bless the person who invented the 'dough' hook.
Pie making is not my favorite kitchen experience
and the dough hook makes a world of difference in
the number of homemade pies the RG enjoys in one year ;)

Running water - I'm old enough to remember the homes
of family and neighbors with no running water.
I give thanks for it often.

The Bread Maker - this is non essential but it was a gift
and we enjoy the breads from time to time.

Aaaah, the Microwave - multiple uses all day long
but a hot cup of cocoa to end the day . . .

I Prefer . . .

camera shots.
Hunting serves a purpose in our area with a growing population of wild life without enough food. It's just not my 'bag'.
I prefer shooting photos for Friday's Hunt.

The letter 'W'
This little Jotul 'W'ood burning stove
has kept the main part of our home 'W'arm for many years.
Small, reasonably clean and with a small window for atmosphere; it is perfect for our cozy little home.
(not to mention saving on fuel costs)

This week's Favorite
Our very own palace guard

Machine
Machines come in all shapes and sizes
ma·chine
noun
  1. 1.
an apparatus using or applying mechanical power and having several parts, each with a definite function and together performing a particular task.

2nd Designated National Pie Day 2016

National Pie Day normally falls on January 23
but a second Day was added this year
December 1st

I started off with a traditional Apple Pie
  • Thank you, whoever invented the 'dough hook' for an electric mixer
  • Thank you, Martha Stewart for telling me to roll the dough inside a plastic bag
  • Thank you most of all, RG (retired gardener) for peeling and slicing the apples

Next I made what I call 'Lazy Lady Pie'.
  1. Instead of rolling the pie in a circle and attempting to make it to the pie pan in one piece, roll it or press it into a square or oblong cake pan. (a 9x13 makes a nice size for church socials, office parties and such because its nice to cut into various size squares depending on the crowd)
  2. Toss in the sweetened and spiced apples
  3. Lay cut-out pieces of remaining pie dough overlapped on the top with a few openings
  4. Sprinkle with sugar (I use cinnamon sugar for apple)
    • Thank you to my friend Peg for #1
    • I came up with #3 on my own a few years ago

Seeking Balance - Day 4

Day 4 - 30 November 2016 - 'overshadow'
What does it mean to you that God overshadows you and your home?

Reflection:
It means that I am 'overshadowed' (sheltered) by His wings and shielded by His light when I walk in His ways. It means my home is a safe haven and place of refuge 'overshadowed' (protected) by his mighty warrior angels. Acknowledging these truths in prayer brings me peace.

Seeking Balance - Day 3

Going into Day three of my Advent challenge and it has become obvious that the process I am using is in fact undermining my quest to simplify my Advent season by attempting to create a page update plus a daily post. The page tab at the top of my blog will now be an archive of the daily Advent posts.

Advent Word and Photo Challenge

Week one - Day 3 - 'find favor'
How does your home environment illustrate the favor God has shown you, both in terms of blessing and of responsibility?

Reflection:
There is no question that God has  'favored' me in terms of my home and its location. A modest dwelling in a quiet neighborhood where everyone looks out for one another.

In terms of my own responsibility, Proverbs 31 comes immediately to mind. It's an ongoing process with room for improvement but as I look around I see evidence that it is the desire of my heart to watch over the affairs of my household and I love (almost) every minute of it.

Would I 'find favor' in God's sight in this area? I think so. (leaving more time for Him to correct and admonish my other short comings) Praise Him for his mercy and long suffering.

Seeking Balance - Day 2

The Holiday Season continues to ramp up atMuldoon as I continue my attempt to seek a balance between the celebration of Christmas and the holiday activities that will abound for the next few weeks.

While clicking around on the first day of Advent, I found a word study and photo challenge that I am following. I have created a page for that purpose where I will reflect on the study and I will be sharing the day's photo(s) here on my regular blog page.

If you would like to, you can click the tab at the top or HERE for each day's 'word' and 'photo' challenge and my response.

These are my photos from Week One 'Home' and Day Two  'Discern'.
