Spring Training

for Red Winged Blackbirds

Left behind
while everyone else is out
learning the ropes.

Hanging on for dear life
Still a little wobbly

Spied the princess
who was all about posing

 Gotta love the 'doo'

Yes Virginia . . .

These two wildflowers were a familiar sight along the path through the woods to our one room schoolhouse.

Pennsylvania's official Wildflower

And the May apple

May apple blossoms and apples that follow
hide below their own 'umbrella' of leaves.

Yes Virginia, a mile and half though the woods
everyday rain or shine.
One teacher and six grades.
(seems like a lifetime ago. Oh wait, it was)

What's In A Name ? . . .

Thankful for my Mom

Her name was Wilda.
Family and Friends called her 'Bill'.

My Dad called her Wilda.

My Children called her Grandma.

I called her Mom.

Happy Mother's Day

'Tis the Season . . .

for mid Spring frost

and the frost is on the pumpkin?

Make that the fruit trees.
Hopefully too light to damage them.

On the brighter side

The wild dogwoods are gorgeous this year.

Doesn't Bother Me . . .

but I don't want one for a pet.

Garter snakes are one of the first snakes to appear in spring and can be active throughout the year even on warm winter days. Unlike other snakes, garter snakes do not lay eggs; instead, they have a live birth of up to 50 babies at once.
Friendly until I added the flash . .

then the tongue came out.
