Anyone out there who has a septic system

will understand my title today.

We were without power from Thursday

evening through Sunday midday 

due to trees and lines down 

following freezing rain and heavy snow.

When that happens, two of 

the biggest challenges 

are no heat and no water.

The RG being the resourceful guy he is, 

collected melting snow 

from the roof into buckets

for flushing the facilities.

 Sad to say we had some tree damage

This one made a loud noise when it came down

 fortunately missing the roof.

Thankfully
The wood burner in the family room 

kept us warm and kept the temps 

in the rest of the house bearable.

As news came in that we were in for a long haul, a generator seemed like a good idea. 

So we borrowed one of those and saved the refrigerated and frozen foods.

That was the longest we have ever experienced without power and I hope the last.

(about 30,000 without power in our county

and 10,000 still out as of this morning)

In the end we really can't complain and continue to pray for others who have and are experiencing much more dire straits and loss of life.
