Temps . . .

are rising . . .

and Hank Heron is drinking up a little shade
while he can.
This would normally be 'Fair Week' in our county
but cancelled for the first time since the civil war.

Spending More Time...

On the porch atMuldoon

It’s on the north side and stays cooler.
So had to invite a featheredfriend or two of course

A hummingbird must . . .

consume approximately one half of its weight in sugar daily.

The average hummingbird feeds
five to eight times per hour.
The hummingbirds atMuldoon
were right on target this evening.
After scattered showers all day
they had to catch up on calories
before nightfall.

This evening I timed one
that ate for 30+ plus seconds.
Normally they take one or two
quick drinks at a time and off they go.

Hang Tough . . .

Stockings Stuffed with Love and Care

Thankful for sewing skills
I've been making items
for this wonderful outreach in our area
(more about it closer to December)
Today I tried a new item;
a cross-shoulder phone tote.

Sometimes . . .

deterrents are necessary.

This is an ant moat.
It's purpose is to stop ants from
reaching hummingbird feeders
or others that contain 'sweets'.
moat: typically filled with water
and intended as a defense against attack.

I found the instruction on YouTube
and made it from the lid of a detergent bottle

Does Anyone Else . . .

think in color?

When I think of the months of the year,
each one is of a particular color in my mind.
June appears as red.
