A True Tree Frog
As we followed the path away from the fire tower at Cook Forest,
'kids' big and small were exclaiming
'can you see', can you see it?'
The subject of their excitement was a frog parked inside the base of a tree.
This was the best I could do in the excitement with little ones waiting to get a look.
He's in the shadows at the upper left.

Along the Clarion
I don't suppose this private residence entrance along
the Clarion River in the area of Cook Forest
has been here as long as the ancient trees
but I would say it has some age.

A Great Blue and A Majestic Hemlock
It was exciting to spy this Great Blue Heron high atop a Pennsylvania state tree, the Eastern Hemlock, in Cook Forest.
Often called "William Penn Trees," trees of this size are often 300 years of age, dating to the era of William Penn, the first governor of "Penn's Woods."

Log Cabin Inn:
Cook Forest's environmental learning center is a large log building built in 1934 by the CCC.
Sawmill Historical Room:
This electric powered mill operated for a little over one year to saw salvage cut timber from the park. Most of the earlier mills were water driven and found along Tom's Run.
The Sawmill houses displays and a gift shop for a local arts and craft organization.
Offers fascinating displays of logging and rafting tools, models, and other artifacts.

Day Trip North
While on a day trip to what has been called
a 'forest catherdral'
we stopped at this country store.
There were several 'blues' to choose from
but I chose to add to my white pitcher collection.
It's a nice size for bathroom organization.
