Unplanned captures are sometimes the most fun.

Was working on family research and looked up and saw this.

A shadow on the left and reflection on the right.

Note the cattails from the garden pond

over my shoulder in both reflections.

One thing is fairly certain in our area.

If you put a shovel in the earth you are going to find sandstone;

small and large.

This single rose appeared in our window about eight feet from the ground a few years ago.

I like the effect of the photo through the screen.

This little lady hasn't migrated yet.

Maybe due to the high temps lately.

 And while it appears she is hiding from me

the truth is she may have found something

tasty in the corn.

One day this week I glanced out the office window

and spied some turkeys.

Just as I was retrieving my camera, the boss came in

and said: 'get your camera'

He had seen them too and knows me so well-haha.

 There was a second young one

but I couldn't catch them all together.

A couple garden pond captures this week

 Two goldfish apparently feeding on algae

at the base of a water lily.

 

Half in half out of the water

A cooling maneuver on a Hot day.

 (but would an amphibian notice?)

Lady Nature transitions to her Fall wardrobe.

 Stonecrop Sedum

Stonecrop Sedum

Sedum is a hardy perennial that comes in varieties that grow low or in a mat-like fashion or varieties that grow in a taller upright fashion. Taller varieties are nice as specimen plants or grouped together in landscape beds. Sedums are low maintenance, but varieties that grow upright should be divided every 3-4 years to help maintain compact growth. Bloom time is late summer through fall. Grow best in full sun. Hardy in zones 3-9.

  As we headed back to the dock

on a hazy Labor Day morning

my Pal the Osprey was fishing as well.

Soaring

and hovering;

on the outlook for the perfect breakfast.

then off he went without a catch.

Like I tell the RG;

that's why it's called 'fishing' and not 'catching'.

On a hazy Labor Day morning as we approached the launch;

this White Tail Deer mom and young one stepped out.

And proceeded to cross the road.

But apparently someone was missing 

 So back they go to locate the wanderer

After launching and while trolling the shoreline for bass

we spotted these three Wood Ducks basking in the sun.

The temps rose quickly and we headed home about 10:30 a.m.

after a short but relaxing outing.

'I' is for Infinity

Infinity (symbol: ∞) is an abstract concept describing something without any limit

 

I'm not sure this is a precise sample of infinity

but it is the first thing I thought of when I took the photo.

I seem to relate it to a 7th grade art class.

I just sat down and this 'monkey'

proceeded to give me the 'what for?'.

 



Pine Squirrel

Pine squirrels, Tamiasciurus species, are small tree squirrels with bushy tails.
The name Tamiasciurus comes from the Greek "Ταμίας" "Σκίουρος" for "hoarder squirrel".
The American red squirrel should not be confused with the Eurasian red squirrel, Sciurus vulgaris — both are usually just referred to as the "red squirrel" in their home continents.

There is no direct line to the east side of the house

from this room on the west.

I think it may have come from the car windshield
