Spotlighting . . .

my latest attempt to be creative with my camera.

this mornings new bloom atMuldoon

When It's Done . . .

It's done.

Building .. .

a friendship.

Our neighbor, Kane
Image may contain: grass, dog, outdoor and nature

About a year ago our neighbors told us they were awaiting the birth of their new dog. Mrs. Neighbor said that it was an aggressive breed and she was concerned about the relationship with all our other neighborhood dogs. So far, no worries.
He came into a loving family with two other dogs plus our Lucy (at the time) and two more family dogs of another neighbor. We have all worked to welcome him and build a good relationship with him.

Did I mention he has about quadrupled his size as a pup?
No photo description available.

Mr. Neighbor has done an excellent job of training; both behavior and hunting.

And to no one's surprise he and the RG have developed a touching friendship. Especially since our loss of Lucy. Now when Kane comes out to fetch his ball, he does so and then immediately looks our way to see if the RG is 'out to play' too.

The Deutsch Drahthaar is very active and intelligent. Eager to learn and loyal to its family, it needs a handler who is consistent in approach. The Drahthaar likes to be occupied and enjoys working for its owner. It is friendly with those it knows, but can be distant with strangers and should be socialized, preferably at an early age. If it senses its owner is meek or passive it will become rather willful. Its hunting instincts lure it to roam. Powerful and energetic, the Drahthaar can become bored and hard to manage without enough exercise. The Deutsch Drahthaar is a good all-around gundogable to hunt any sort of game on any sort of terrain. This dog has a good nose and can track, point and retrieve on both land and water. It is steady, lively and vigorous. Children should be taught how to display proper leadership skills. If this dog does not see humans as above it in the pecking order it will become dominating and pushy and may try to dominate other animals. With proper leadership it will get along well with other dogs and household animals. Drahthaars make good watchdogs.

Something was ...

Brewing at sunset.

After a hot sunny day in the high 80s,

these thunder clouds began to brew

Was She Watching? . . .

No doubt in my mind.

"To open their eyes, so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.' ---Acts 26:18

I circled the pond and she never moved.

A Favorite Tree . . .

"There's nothing wrong with having a tree as a friend"
--- Bob Ross

Thankful for this friend that reminds me that
like each tree and its unique beauty
each of us are beautiful in our own way.

On Hold . . .

With the initiation of virtual Bible study
this tote has been idle.
Going 'virtual' has had its positive side,

It's all about

perception.

In this case, what appears to be a shrub
is, in reality, a tree over a hill.
We'll never know what's beyond the horizon unless we keep on going.

Sing to the Lord a brand new song! Praise him from the horizon of the earth...

No Critters...

pictured today

because I want to see if you can identify the builders of this nest.

We watched them labor for two days.
It looks nothing like any of this kind of bird's nest I have ever seen.
What I would say to them for next time is; location, location, location.

I can

Today I'm thankful for my sewing corner

And the joy of creating small gifts

Just because.

And Yet Another . . .

new bird atMuldoon.

I think birders call them lifers
when a bird is seen by them for the first time.
We have many varieties of sparrows in our area but I don't think I have ever seen
a white-crowned sparrow.
Until today; and there it was.

Prayer is eagerly expecting that God will meet us in our prayer time and do what is best for us and those we love.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

16 Rejoice always, 17 pray continually, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

Tea e e e ...Tea e e e . . .

What is that I say to myself.

It continued for a bit, then stopped.  A while later it began again and sounded close to the front door. Time to investigate.
When I saw orange and black I thought Oriole but knew that wasn't the right birdsong. Well then maybe Black-headed Grosbeak. By that time it was gone again.

Time goes by and there it is again and I caught a blurry photo. Time to google.

Aha, Eastern Towhee. What a beautiful friendly bird and we continued to play 'cat and mouse' into the afternoon.

Finally, a meeting with proper social distancing. Gotta love the zoom on the camera.
So here he is.

That was Thursday. Today, not a sign of him. So I'm glad for our chance encounter as April passes and May begins.
