Christmas Robins
A flock of Robins came out of deep woods hiding (unusual for December)
to join our backyard bird community for the holidays.

We share photos of our homes, nature, crafts, family, travel and more in the hope of bringing inspiration, incite, or a little smile to the faces of those who view the post.
And its a boost to our morale to receive comments and put a little smile on our own faces.
I'm sure we each make the attempt to choose our 'best' photos.
But . . .
Today I went a different route and decided to share what I'm calling my OCD Therapy for the day. All the while repeating to myself " this mess is o.k., this mess is o.k."
One more variety of cookie and a nut bread to go.

Seized by a Crafty Moment
I had the frame.
I had the fabric.
I had the cork.
I had the time.
I'm pleased with the result.

This jug is every bit as big as it appears.
It sits at the end of the lane to a popular truck farm.
We pass this sign often and I always chuckle.
I mean, I'm sorry for their loss but find it amusing.
It's been there quite awhile

Backyard Birds 121615
The December/January issue of Bird & Blooms had an article on identifying Hairy and Downy Woodpeckers. The difference is primarily in their sizes with some subtle differences in plumage. And each has a unique call.
We got a chance atMuldoon to test our skill.
Ms. Hairy here was feasting away
When what to her wondering eyes should appear?
But Mr. Downy higher up in the tree.
Mr. Downy was polite and took his place in line
(note the difference in size)
Here he seems to be wondering just how long she is going to take.
Finally his turn arrives.
And he seems to be hoping she doesn't come back for dessert.
Later that day Mr. Hairy (larger of the two)
arrived for his afternoon feast.
Which went without incident.
Mr. and Ms. Hairy have longer stronger beaks
Mr. Downy's is stubby.
Mr. and Ms. Hairy are about nine inches from the tip of their bills to the tip of their tails.
Mr. Downy is only about six and a half inches.

This one is reflected in the window of my car.

Last year we just used the top two sections of our 9ft. tree
It is now the perfect size for the two of us
so we went that route again this year.
The container is a fairly old ceramic planter
that belonged to my aunt.
It works perfectly and brings back many happy childhood memories.
