Christmas Reflections Inside and Out 12 2015

Holiday Reflections atMuldoon

Outdoors for Outdoor Wednesday

The mild temps continue
which is beginning to concern the RG

and there are the lighted deer reflected in the front window.

This one is reflected in the window of my car.

Indoors for Mosaic Monday

Our Christmas Tree is reflected in a mirror
joined by the palm tree which is now lit for the holidays.

Last year we just used the top two sections of our 9ft. tree
It is now the perfect size for the two of us
so we went that route again this year.
The container is a fairly old ceramic planter
that belonged to my aunt.
It works perfectly and brings back many happy childhood memories.

Mosaic Monday 100515 Trees n Bushes 100615

Our Flowering Dogwood
wearing her Autumn colors.

A close-up of her gown.

 Her ensemble includes
Lots of 'Bling' (berries) to catch a bird's eye

Flowering Dogwoods are one of our most common understory trees.
Understory means that it grows beneath taller trees.
This small tree grows about 30 feet tall. Its trunk usually isn't more than eight inches wide. The trunk is also short, with many spreading branches.
Flowering Dogwood leaves grow up to five inches long and 2 1/2 inches wide.
They are green with short stalks. Underneath they are pale green.
Flowering Dogwood leaves turn bright red in the Fall.

The yard at each of our homes over the years has included Flowering Dogwoods.
The RG transplants them from the local woods
where they grow in abundance.
This one is around forty years old.

Photo Review Surprise

Imagine my surprise to find this little honey amongst the Canadian Thistle when reviewing the photos I had taken while capturing an Eastern Tiger Swallowtail for Week-end Butterfly.

Mosaic Barns 070615

Four more barns
snapped while out looking for fences last week

The vertical construction of the silo caught my eye on this one.
I just noticed the lettering on the barn.
At one time it said 'Ruby Twin Lakes' with a hex sign at each end
But I don't think that is what I am seeing here.

Without some attention to this barn,
the silo will be joining my collection of solo siloes.

Wonder how many seasons it took
for the ivy to cover this one.

Disappearing One by One

Thank you Judy at Cranberry Morning for inspiring these mosaics. Her posts of Wisconsin barns brought to mind many barns that I passed in days gone by which are just that,-- 'gone'.
So I've been capturing some of those that are left.

Here and There

This one is on an old homestead called The Hermitage

Also like the corn crib to the left with the rusty roof
