signs, signs from Saturday's Drive

So for Lesley's signs, signs; here we go . . .

A large lakeside community including 300 acre, Lake Latonka.

Maple Lane Farm - Party Venue and more.

Outside a convenience store in the heart of farm country.

Amish quilts and crafts.

A railroad museum in the village of Harlansburg.

A Pennsylvania farm.

An old mill in the village of Volant housing crafts & antiques.

See something that catches your eye?

Good Fences 012816

Dairy Farms abound in our area.

This one holds the distinction of being a
'Pennsylvania Century Farm'

Note: Barn to be featured on The Barn Collective later this week

Newer Models Inside? 012616

Historic items are sometimes referred to as 'treasures'.
That's what I think of when I see older machinery
that has 'history' to someone.

Harvest Time - Fences 110515

Haven't seen this farm building since Spring.
The farm next to the office parking lot harvested corn this morning.
Big machine - Big noise
but not unpleasant.

A Collection of Barns

Here and there about the county.

Really like the combo of sky, field & trees.

In this one it's the sun and shadows.

Not a favorite but it has all the elements of our area;
lightening rods, brick silo, unfinished siding.

Bonus;
not a barn but a great old farm outbuilding.

Seem to Like This Spot

I've been watching these two on the farm across
from the business I work at.
They seem to favor this particular spot of shade.

Donkey
Most donkeys, regardless of coat color, will have dorsal stripes and shoulder crosses, dark ear marks, as well as the "light points" - white muzzle and eye rings, and  white belly and inner leg.
Leg barring ("garters" or "zebra stripes") may be present as well.
Small dark spots right at the throatlatch, called "collar buttons" are a good identifying marking and occur occasionally.

I love learning; don't you?

Wednesday Links 072915

Watched it ripen from my swing.

Just can't beat a fresh home ripened Tomato

As I drove to work and saw these hay bales I was reminded of
the snow donut phenomena which was new to our area last winter.

It took the tiger lilies to bring in the hummingbirds this year

This one reminds me of the stance of Mighty Mouse
from the old Saturday morning cartoon.

I Spy

This barn doesn't fit my criteria as a unique barn
but it is special for one reason.
Can you spy the critter that make's it so?

The RG travels this way from time to time
and told me to watch for this cutie.
He says it is in the same spot every time.
It was there in the morning when we drove by.
It was there in the afternoon when we returned home.

The angle of the photos is due to me snapping it
with the camera turned backwards out the window;
with the LCD screen rotated as we sped by.
So I was quite thrilled that I caught my subject.

Spied this fella or lady on my lunch break this week.
I'm calling it Punxsutawney Phil's kissin' cousin 'Chuck'.
since we are only a couple counties away
from the town of film fame - Ground Hog Day.
(the RG will not be happy to discover our new resident)

And a couple random captures.

Blue Roof - Blue Sky

This farmer chose a perfect Sky Blue

Smiling Sally

Disappearing One by One

Thank you Judy at Cranberry Morning for inspiring these mosaics. Her posts of Wisconsin barns brought to mind many barns that I passed in days gone by which are just that,-- 'gone'.
So I've been capturing some of those that are left.

Here and There

This one is on an old homestead called The Hermitage

Also like the corn crib to the left with the rusty roof
