Uh Oh

The view of our neighbor's roof
was pretty run of the mill.

Until last week when this bird
stopped for a break in flight

and we wondered where it was nesting.

And then yesterday . . . Uh Oh.

  1. A good sign that winter is over.

  2. It can just barely squeeze in there!
    Does your neighbor know?

  3. Hello, that looks a little tiny place for the grackle's nest. Great sighting and photos. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Happy Saturday, enjoy your weekend!

  4. a tiny house for a not so tiny bird.. are you keeping this a secret? LOL

  5. Sure looks like a small nest for such a big bird!

  6. Everyone is expressing what we have been mulling over as well.
When we saw it with the nesting material last week we didn't think it was going in the vent-a-ridge due to its size. But it was definitely coming out of there yesterday.
Our next thought was it was proceeding into the attic.
We shared the photos with the neighbor yesterday and they are just as mystified having heard no attic noises.
    We will continue to observe.

  7. Interesting to see that it chose this place!

  8. Grackles are not known , I think , for being smart. We have lots of them in Texas, and although there are tons of trees and woods, and lakes, they usually chose the mall parking lot with a tiny tree and 10,000 birds on the same tree.

  9. Home is where you build it!

    Cheers - Stewart M - Melbourne

PS: I suspect the grackle may be a Starling.

    1. oops, you're right. Thanks for pointing it out.

  10. How fun that you will be able to observe them as they work around raising their young~

Thank you for stopping by and sharing my ventures in photos. I look forward to every comment and especially discovering your Blogs with their wonderful photos, conversation and words of wisdom and encouragement.
Each of you are a blessing to my day.
