Flew the Coop

Time and Subjects have been scarce.
This bird house hosted Sparrows off and on this summer.

But nobody home now.
Looks like the Missus added a lovely floral accent
to their humble home.

Chase the Blah with Blue

The front porch of our little white ranch atMuldoon was looking a little blah lately. So I pulled a remnant out of storage and made a blue floral cushion for the bench and an accent for the chair.

Added my little blue shutter with a wooden shoe;
some blue flowers and chased the blah away.

Any Guesses?
The RG has an idea.
For now our story is

Seem to Like This Spot

I've been watching these two on the farm across
from the business I work at.
They seem to favor this particular spot of shade.

Donkey
Most donkeys, regardless of coat color, will have dorsal stripes and shoulder crosses, dark ear marks, as well as the "light points" - white muzzle and eye rings, and  white belly and inner leg.
Leg barring ("garters" or "zebra stripes") may be present as well.
Small dark spots right at the throatlatch, called "collar buttons" are a good identifying marking and occur occasionally.

I love learning; don't you?

Calling for Rain

Traditionally referred to as Little Robin Red Breast,
my eyes tell me they are orange
This was taken in our English walnut tree at sunset.
It was singing it's heart out for rain.

Joe Gets Around

Joe-Pye Weed
Joe-Pye (I don't call it a weed) grows abundantly in our area.

Eupatorium purpureum
It’s a great addition to nearly any garden and a must have for wildlife lovers,
attracting a multitude of butterflies with its sweet nectar.
Joe-pye weed flowers were named after a New England man that used the plant medicinally for helping people with typhus fever. In addition to its medicinal properties,
both the flowers and seeds have been used in producing pink or red dye for textiles.
the flowers have a light vanilla fragrance that becomes more intense when crushed.

White Pickets Fences

aren't what they used to be.

But they still add their own charm

This one is kind of nondescript
would have been better from the front of the house.

Charming blue cottage and white fence
Probably built post WWII
This is now a VERY busy commercial intersection
I wonder how long the house will remain?

And a nice cape cod sporting its fence.

Took these from my cell while in transit so . . .

Jump the fence and join

Trolling Along the Lake Shore

Me with my camera.
The RG with his fishing poll

Snapped this gull right after a pontoon went floating by
Guess the captain couldn't read.

Trolling along the shore; Peek a Boo

And then there were three.

Uh Oh company.

We'll be going now.

Moving down shore and heard rustling.

And to round out the evening

Dead Trees Standing

I've used the word tenacity before in relation to nature and again the tenacity of these trees year after year never ceases to amaze me.

These are three dead trees I pass often each week.
The RG has been commenting on this one for several years
and its ability to stay standing

The greenery on and around this one
is from neighboring trees.

Each one retains its unique personality.

Blue Monday

Hit the jackpot at the flea market. The thrifty items offered had moved up a notch this week.

Found these eight items
and a couple include 'Blue'

Thinking this pretty stained glass ornament
with the 'Blue' iris will look
nice on the bathroom window.

This 'Blue' striped crock could be used in multiple places.
Decisions, Decisions, Decisions, sigh.
 Total - less than $15.00
You can't beat 'controlled' Thrifting ; )

Last Minute

The hummingbirds seemed to have arrived atMuldoon. And they are flying in pairs. Wonder what that means ; )

Just captured this one a few minutes ago dining
on the Indian Paint Brush flowers.

Taken through the glass on the front door
Didn't want to scare it away

Don't you love his teenie little feet?

Something After All

Had a busy work week; not much camera time; and didn't think I had anything for today.
Then I remembered this dragon fly.
So here it is from several angles and resting spots.

See the gold fish through its wing.
